ACQA – SUM survey

Questionnaire was formulated to assess satisfaction with the existing presence of practical teaching and cooperation with the real sector in the curriculum both from academic staff and students.

Academic staff full-time employed at the faculty participated in the survey – a positive outcome shows that teachers are interested in this issue. An internship is a professional learning experience that offers practical work related to a student’s study. An internship gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills.

So, 75% of teachers said that they are not satisfied with the presence of an internship and the real sector within the curriculum.

Regarding when is the best time to have an internship 50% of teachers think that it is better to have an internship during master studies, and 42% think that it is better to have it after bachelor studies. In essence, these answers indicate that an internship should not be before 3 years od study.

On the other hand, the academic staff believes that students are well prepared for practice and work in companies through the current curriculum with the existing program from the aspect of competitiveness on the market.

The survey is conducted as part of the international project Architecture pop up lab exchange (APLE), with the aim of determining the level of practice represented in the existing curricula at the Faculties of Architecture (UNSA, UBL, SUM and UCG), as well as the achieved cooperation with companies (“stakeholders”).
