Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union
Establishment of Core Laboratories and Equipment

Institutions from Partner countries will start the formation of Core Laboratories. Specific space in every Partner institution will be reserved for Core labs as activity area, forum, meeting place for mutual knowledge exchange between stakeholders, teaching staff and students within the architectural profession. Partner Country institutions are the main executors of tasks related to the development of studio program content and methodologies, while Program country partners have the role of expert consultants. Partner Country institutions will carry out the large part of the work within their home institutions; visits EU institutions and observe advanced pedagogical practice. In the second year of APLE project, after development phase, project implementation will start through Live, Real, Data and Open studio. Establishment of Core Laboratories and equipment, development of the program content and training foresees 9 months to complete.
Core labs will operate as a networking hub for the students, teaching staff and the professionals, representatives of the real sector. To this purpose, the lab spaces of each of the participating universities will be set-up, structure and equipped to provide the networking services for all the stakeholders. Within Core Laboratories, the goal is to establish mechanisms for collaboration of students, academic staff and stakeholders through adjusting the existing curriculum and its continuous revision. Core lab will provide space and infrastructure for continuous and periodic activities such as coworking space, project administration, diverse types of meeting and break-out spaces, modelling workshop etc. Core Laboratory studio space would become an incubator for implementing and experimenting with new teaching and learning methods through re-examining traditional roles and dialogue between academic staff and students.
Development of the Labs and spaces comes with significant infrastructure works in adapting existing spaces and equipping new buildings of WB HEIs:
1. UNSA Sarajevo, B&H; https://www.unsa.ba/
2. UBL Banja Luka B&H; https://unibl.org/
3. SUM Mostar B&H; https://www.sum.ba/
4. UOM Podgorica, MNE; https://www.ucg.ac.me/
The core labs have become a necessary transformative tool. Lead core lab will consist of digital and analogue tools. This infrastructural input will be a significant boost to the learning outcomes, and it has grown beyond the APLE Project, as indicated in the photos. Significant amount of funding has been provided for upgrade of spaces that takes time and tendering procedures.
